On January 7th, the first Riviera Beach Community Boating Class began. Ten Riviera Beach Youth were taken on an ocean fishing excursion by the Florida Fishing Academy. The kids caught a wide variety of fish including sandtiles, grunts, and parrot fish, to name a few. This was the first time many of the kids were on the ocean, and they were amazed at the wide variety of fish! The students were taught proper and safe boating procedures, as well as proper fishing techniques. Classes are held every Saturday as a part of the Riviera Beach Community Boating Program (except for holiday weekends). This program is free to children 8-18 years old who live in Riviera Beach.

The Inaugural Riviera Beach Marina Day, was a great success! Over 400 patrons participated in family fun that included boat rides to Peanut Island and tours of the Kenedey Bunker, kayaking, free food and snow cones, facepainting, children’s marine painting, and much more. This event officially kicked off the Riviera Beach Community Boating Program (RBCBP), and 22 families enrolled their children in the RBCBP. Don’t worry if you missed out on your chance to pariticpate in the event and enroll your child. There is still space available, and you can request more information by completing the webform below.
